As part of their ongoing commitment to the Canberra community, staff from ACT Corrective Services contributed several trolley loads of food and other much needed items to the Anglicare “Food drive for the homeless”. Coming only a few months after the charity bike ride, which saw staff from ACT Corrective Services raise money for children through the Starlight Foundation, this latest charity initiative was co-ordinated by Ms Rosie Gaul, from the Governance Unit, who packaged up supplies as soon as they started overflowing the donation baskets and arranged for them to be safely conveyed to where they were needed most.
In total, Anglicare ACT’s Annual Winter Pantry Appeal received 8,600 food items from across Canberra.
Ms Bernadette Mitcherson, Executive Director for ACT Corrective Services is delighted that her staff have shown such enthusiasm for these voluntary activities and would be happy to see them continuing into the future.
