Lead by a Scots piper, 32 recruits from four recruit classes marched into the Albert Hall on Friday 3 February 2012 and shortly afterwards graduated as officers in ACT Corrective Services. The officers have now joined their colleagues working at the ACT's Alexander Maconochie Centre, Periodic Detention Centre and with the Court Transport Unit.
In addition to the graduates, Anthony Malone, Jane Curnow and Janine Bromwich each received an Executive Director's Commendation certificate for distinguished service and Michael Whilding received both an Executive Director's Commendation certificate for distinguished service and an Alexander Maconochie Medal.
Guests on the day included: Aunty Agnes O'shea - Ngunnawal Elder, Dr Chris Bourke MLA - Minister for Corrections, Ms Kathy Leigh, Director-General - Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS), Ms Bernadette Mitcherson - Executive Director, ACT Corrective Services, Mr Brett Phillips - A/g Deputy Director-General (JACS).
