Deposits into detainee accounts
Visitors from 15 July 2016 will be able to deposit money quickly and easily online or by phone into detainee accounts, by clicking on the button 'DEPOSIT ONLINE to a detainee account' or calling a toll free number.
Detainees can use money received from families and friends to purchase items such as toiletries, magazines, newspapers and to make telephone calls that keep them in contact with their families and friends while in custody.
Please note, cash and cheque deposits will not be accepted after 15 July 2016 at the Alexander Maconochie Centre, however Australian money orders will continue to be accepted.

- Families and friends can deposit money electronically by clicking on the link, or by calling the toll free number 1300 546 086.
- Deposits can only be made using a Visa or Mastercard debit card (this means using your own money from a savings or cheque account with your card linked to Visa or Mastercard. You will know this is correct if your card shows a Visa or Mastercard symbol).
- Electronic and phone deposits are free – you will not be charged for the transaction.
- Payments made before 6pm on a business day will be received into a detainee’s account the next business day.
- The maximum amount which can be deposited to a detainee is $150 per week. Amounts allowed will be prompted at the time of deposit (in case of multiple deposits in one week).
- Detainees can check the balance of their accounts each month.

Visitors who wish to deposit money need:
- The detainees Prisoner Identification Number (PID), surname (or family name) and date of birth. This information needs to be provided to the visitor by the detainee. ACTCS will not release this information over the phone, by email, or in person.
- a Visa or Mastercard debit card (so using your own money from a savings or cheque account). Payments from credit cards will not be accepted.
